Maurine Allen Anderson's Obituary
Maurine Allen Anderson, loving sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and matriarch of the Anderson family, returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 13, 2023. Maurine was born in Draper, Utah, on December 29, 1935, to Ronald and Ruth (Rasmussen) Allen. Maurine grew up on a country farm in Draper, Utah, where she learned the value of hard work, determination, patience, and strong endurance. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of five, Maurine was devotedly cared for and nurtured to good health by her loving parents and holistic doctors. Throughout her life, Maurine sought alternative care, which greatly improved her health, making it possible for her to live to the age of eighty-seven. Through her parent's example, Maurine learned at an early age "that it [took] hard work to discipline [our lives and] that it's in the struggling to overcome that we become strong”.
Maurine worked at her grandfather's and uncle's café and grocery store in Draper during her high school years. She met her husband, Wayne S. Anderson, during her senior year of high school and became engaged to Wayne on graduation day. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 25, 1954, but later divorced in January of 1987.
Maurine was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving diligently in various church callings, including the Second Counselor in the Relief Society Presidency, Primary President, Primary Teacher, MIA Instructor, Visiting Teacher, and Minister. Maurine was also a dedicated member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for over twenty years, where she loved to "share and discover stories about [the] early saints and [her] ancestors"; Maurine knew and understood the importance of doing family history work in conjunction with receiving temple covenants. Maurine loved serving others and was genuine, true, and kind to everyone she met.
Maurine's greatest accomplishments and rewards in life were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; Ron and Ruth (Rasmussen) Allen, step-mother, Rayola (Smith) Allen, four brothers; Alva Ralph Allen, Donald Allen, Robert Allen, and Calvin Allen; and her son; Steven (Robin) Anderson, Maurine is survived by her brother; Melvin (Charolette) Allen, Sister; Mary Jane (Gene) Beck, and her five children; Alan Anderson, Brent Anderson, Rory Anderson, Marsalie Anderson, and Kris (Jamie) Anderson. In addition, Maurine's enduring legacy includes sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren with four great-great-grandchildren.
