Maxine Clarke Hillman 1923 – 2017
Maxine Clarke Hillman, 94, of Layton, Utah, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 surrounded by family members at her daughter’s home in Layton.
Maxine was born in Burton, Idaho, to John Roland (J.R.) Clarke and Nora Redford Clarke on April 8, 1923. She attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho. Maxine had a beautiful voice and loved to sing starting when she was very young and continuing throughout most of her adult life, singing at many activities and funerals. She loved many things - sewing, crocheting, cooking, looking for antique bottles, building miniature doll house furniture, reading, gardening, and spending time with family. She loved the years helping her husband, Mayhew (Hoot) Hillman, with his radiator business in Egin, Idaho.
They raised their family in St. Anthony and Egin. In her later years, Maxine lived in Rexburg, moving finally to Utah to be near her daughter, Janet. Maxine was an active member of the LDS Church and was sealed for time and all eternity to her beloved husband. She has lovingly anticipated their reunion since his death in 1991.
Maxine is survived by her sons Rand (Jana) Hillman, Kent (Sharon) Hillman, Lee (Valene) Hillman; daughters Janet (Don) Egbert, and Kristen (Dusty) Winters; brother, John Richard Clarke, and sister, Phyllis Clements; twenty-six grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mayhew (Hoot) Hillman; daughter, Carolyn Hillman; parents; and siblings - LuNone Heilesen, Roland Devar Clark, Lyle Brewer, and Sarah Lorrene Clarke.
Funeral Services will be held at the Falcon Ridge Ward, 1325 E. Cherry Lane, Layton, Utah on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be held on Saturday prior to the funeral from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the Parker Cemetery in Parker, Idaho.
