Maxine Mullins White Larkin's Obituary
MAXINE WHITE
November 9, 1932 – March 19, 2023
Maxine Mullins White, a long-time resident of Murray, Utah passed away peacefully on March
19, 2023 at the Beehive Assisted Living Center in Millcreek, Utah. She was born to Walter &
Dorothy Mullins on November 9th, 1932. She was the sixth of nine children and shared a
birthday with her younger brother Richard. She was born in the home they grew up in Murray
along with all her siblings.
She married Richard “Bud” White on June 21, 1954 in Elko, NV. They had a very close
relationship doing everything together. She would take him lunch every day and they would go
to Liberty Park and eat together, or with anyone she could take with her. They loved the
outdoors, camping, fishing and taking long drives on Sundays to places most people never even
knew existed. Roberta and Marvin were their favorite Sunday drive partners. It was always an
adventure. Mom loved to crochet and made many baby outfits (sweaters, booties and
blankets). She also made beautiful doilies and quilts. The amazing part of this skill was that
she couldn’t follow a pattern, it was all by sight. She could just look at the piece and copy it.
Together they had two daughters, Marilyn Oakey and Linda Gusta.
Maxine loved children and cared for many over the years along with many of her nieces and
nephews. She would never say no to anyone who needed her help she would drive you
anywhere or give you her last dime. The staff at all the Assisted living centers where she
stayed loved her very much. She was always happy and quite a character they would say. She
was in the late stages of dementia for many years but it never managed to take away her happy
and loving personality
She is preceded in death by her husband Bud, her two granddaughters Jaime & Sherry, her
mother and father, siblings Lorene Atwood, Roberta Thompson, Virginia McQuillan, Walter
Mullins & JoAnn Condie. She is survived by her daughters Marilyn (Bruce) Oakey, Linda Gusta,
her grandchildren Sean Oakey, Kori (Travis) Hawes and four great grandchildren that she loved
very much, Saige, Aspyn, Trystan Hawes and Coop Oakey. She is also survived by her
brothers Leonard (Sandra) Mullins, Richard (MaryAnn) Mullins, and her little sister Evelyn
Kerby.
Our family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Beehive Assisted Living center and her hospice
staff for their care the past 7 years. I would personally like to thank her State Guardian Tanya
for everything she has done for mom in making sure she was happy, safe and well provided for.
Her life would have been much less comfortable, for that I am forever grateful.
There will be a graveside ceremony on May 3rd beginning at 12:00 noon at the Murray City
Cemetery, 5490 S. Vine Street, Murray, Utah. Please plan to join us for a luncheon for friends
and family after the services. She will be buried along with her husband Bud and her
grandchildren Jamie & Sherry.
Condolences can be sent to the family at www.premierfuneral.com
