Melissa Powers' Obituary
Melissa Powers an apartment manager for 25 + years and resident of Ogden, Utah, passed away on December 4, 2020 at the age of 58 after bravely fighting breast cancer for over eight years with her loving daughter and husband by her side.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Kevin; her three children, Michael, Gabriel, and Elizabeth; and her brother, Mark Nelson.
Melissa was born in North Hollywood, California, on February 25, 1962, to Fred and Allene Nelson. At the age of six, her family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she grew up. While attending Ricks College, now Brigham Young University-Idaho, she met Kevin and they wed in 1983. Melissa and Kevin were married for almost 38 years.
Melissa was a devoted aunt, friend, mother, wife, sister, and scrapbooker. She feverishly worked to finish scrapbook pages of her family until the very end, leaving her family multiple scrapbooks as treasured keepsakes. Her favorite season was fall, and she often took trips to the mountains with her family to take in fall foliage. Melissa was a great lover of nature, but her absolute favorite plant was the sunflower.
The family would like to thank to McKay Dee oncology staff, as well as the Bristol hospice staff, especially Tiffany, Judy, and Sydney, for your tireless efforts.
The family will be holding a private memorial on December 10th. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at give.bcrf.org.
