I loved hearing and learning about family history from grandpa. My heart breaks that he won't be there for my college graduation and meeting my future children. I love you, Grandpa, and I hope you find James

I have many memories of my Dad Melvin C Alexander. We enjoyed fishing, camping, photography. We loved hanging out together. I loved listening to his stories. Especially his fish stories which his fish that he caught would get bigger and bigger as he would tell the fish stories over and over.
Dad, I love you, I always have and I always will. You and I have always been close. Until we meet again.
Expressing our sympathy and love to an amazing family with the recent passing of Mel. We’re so grateful to have had the blessing of knowing Mel. He was an amazing man with a deep love for family history and his country, and I enjoyed talking about his rock collection and swapping stories. We will miss you, Mel.

Grandpa always had a strong testimony our savior Jesus Christ along with the Gospel! And along with a deep love for family history! My favorite memory of him, was family home evenings at his and grandmas house was when grandpa would pull out a scrapbook or two and we (my siblings and I) would gather around the couch and he would show us the photos and share the stories behind them sometimes they were stories from our ancestors or of him growing up! I loved these stories and hold them dear to me as I share them with my future children! Love you Grandpa! This isn't good bye just a see you later!

Mel was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in England. While there, he found and baptized my parents, Bill and Coleen Henley. We are now a 3rd generation family that continues to grow and prosper in the gospel. How can you possibly say thank you for that life altering event.
Once I moved to USA in 1983, after marrying my sweetheart I knew I HAD to come and meet the man who baptized my parents. It took many years, as I then had my own growing family. But I will NEVER forget the love and joy I felt when we finally met Mel and Sandy a few years ago. The love that they showed us was like they had known us for ever. Mel kept his journals from his mission and showed them to us while we were there. His stories of my parents kept us laughing.
I KNOW that Mel and my Mum had a joyous reunion upon his passing.
I will FOREVER be grateful for his dedicated service. I wish we could be there to say our goodbyes in person, so until we meet again, know we love you.
