Melvin O. Foote, our devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 24, 2015 at his home. Mel was born in Salt Lake City, UT. on May 10, 1929 to Andrew Oran Foote and Della Maurine Nielsen Aubrey. He married Dixie Ann Watkins, on March 5, 1960 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Mel served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He worked as an airline mechanic for United Air Lines in San Francisco, CA, and Hill Air Force Base, UT. His favorite plane to repair was the OV-10. He retired on 1994 after 20 years at the base.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many different positions in his church, serving for years in the Scouting program and most recently as secretary of the High Priest Quorum in his ward. Dad’s hobbies included tennis, performing in a traveling choir, oil-painting, creating works of art from exotic pieces of wood, and he was an avid fisherman. Dad was known for his kindness and generosity. The family has fond memories of spending time together, weekend road trips all over California and celebrating holidays and birthdays with loved ones. He loved to camp and spend time around the campfire in the mountains.
