Richard was more than a father to me. He was a teacher, a mentor, and friend. He loved my mother, and was able to show her the world during their 28 years of marriage. He took her places she had never dreamed of going and did things together she never thought she would try. He made her feel young, and opened her mind to challenging intellectual thought. But the greatest gift Richard gave my mother, was a new family. His eight children took my mother in as one of their own, and showed her a love that will last a lifetime. She will always cherish his children and grandchildren. Because of Richard, my mother will never know loneliness or lack of adoration. His love will remain on earth through his children, and their love will be eternal. If Richard was here I would not tell him all the things he did or how he made me feel, but the gratitude of how he changed my mothers life.
