Melvin D Thompson's Obituary
Melvin D Thompson was born on April 29th, 1936, to Matthew and Margaret (Young) Thompson. Siblings; Viola (Briggs), Joseph, Grant and Elizabeth.
Mel was a 1954 graduate of Provo High School. He served in the US Army and played short stop on the Army baseball team in California, Texas and Germany.
Mel married Diane Clements on August 16, 1975.
Mel was an avid golfer and played in many tournaments throughout Utah. He won the Provo Open, amateur division. He played for various fast-pitch softball teams in Utah County.
Later in life Mel and his brothers were able to spend a lot of quality time together. They were very close and enjoyed each other’s company.
He loved "the wife" Diane and children, H. Damon Rees and Shauna Garcia and his grandchildren, Nichole, Chad, Garrett, Tanner, Catherine and Hannah Garcia and Jantzen, Brooks, Chandon and Britton Rees; 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 6, 2019 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held at Premier Funeral Services, 1160 North 1200 West, Orem, Utah from 10:30 am to Noon on the same day.
