Merlin Miller's Obituary
Our brother, Uncle and friend has passed away unexpectedly.
We would have been able to spend time with him this weekend doing what he loved most, camping and hunting, in our favorite spot. His absence will be sadly felt. These outings won't be the same without Merlin, as he knew every ridge, road, mountain and valley. He also knew the secrets to making the best dinners and desserts in the Dutch oven.
Merlin was born on August 21,1957 and was raised in Sandy Utah. He loved sports and the great outdoors from an early age. He loved fishing and hunting in the Uintah mountains, as he had spent many years riding the dirt roads. He played football, baseball and wrestled at Jordan High school and went on to play college football at Dixie College. He went on to serve and LDS mission in Ireland and had planned on going back to visit someday soon.
If you knew Merlin, you know that he was always happy go lucky and would give you the shirt off his back. He was generous to a fault.
Preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Gene and Thelma Crittenden Miller. Survived by his 3 children, Kenneth, Sarah and Gwen, sisters Joy, Kae and Anne, brother Ernie, niece Dayna (Jason) and best friends Carlynn and Hal.
We talked about his wishes, if he should pass away. Merlin wanted to be cremated and he wanted his ashes to be put inside clay pigeons, the ones you practice shooting at. He wanted his loved ones to launch them in the air and shoot at them, spreading his ashes at his favorite spot. If you would like to participate in this memorial, (next spring) please let me know. He also wanted a few ashes spread in the Uintah mountains, his second favorite spot. We plan on taking some on every trip and leave a bit here and there.
