Michael Dennis Blackhurst's Obituary
Michael Dennis Blackhurst, 81, returned home to his loving heavenly father on Sunday December 7th 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Michael was born on April 11, 1944, in Provo, Utah, to Rolo and Sarah Elizabeth Blackhurst.
Michael grew up in Pleasant Grove and was a true PG Viking through and through. First as a Pleasant Grove High School graduate, then serving proudly in the Pleasant Grove National Reserve Army, and later dedicating his career to public safety as a respected Pleasant Grove Police Officer. Known for his steady presence and compassion, he devoted his heart to protecting the community he loved.
Michael married Carol Haycock, the love of his life, on March 5th, 1970, and they would have celebrated their 56th anniversary this next year. They have two wonderful daughters together, Paige and Andrea.
Michael was endlessly friendly, chatty, and outgoing. He loved the outdoors, all animals, car shows, country music and cheering on NASCAR. He had a soft spot for peppermint ice cream and code red mountain dew. To family and friends, he was a warm, familiar presence, someone who could talk to anyone, laugh with anyone, and make everyone around him feel at home.
Above all, Michael’s greatest joy and legacy was his family. He was a source of unwavering love, wisdom, and support. He lived for his daughters and grandchildren, never missing a football game, Sunday dinner, birthday party, or dance recital and was known for his incredible home-cooked meals and the gentle, giving heart that blessed everyone around him. The Blackhurst home was always a place of warmth, safety, and unconditional love and will always be remembered that way.
Michael also lived a life of sincere faith. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many callings and was always quietly ministering to those in need. His testimony of Jesus Christ was reflected in the way he lived: humble, patient, and full of love.
Nothing demonstrated Michael’s Christlike heart more than the tender daily care he provided to his wife, Carol, and to his daughter Andrea. He also blessed his daughter Paige’s life with constant support, encouragement, and a strength she always knew she could rely on. He served his family with patience and devotion, always giving everything he had. His family finds peace knowing that he is finally at rest, reunited with his beloved Carol, whom he has longed for since her passing in March 2024.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents, Rolo and Sarah Elizabeth, and brother and brother-in-law, Reese and Don.
He is survived by his sisters, Brenda Allen and Marcia Peterson; his brother, Clint Blackhurst (Rhonda); his sister-in-law, Sandra Blackhurst; his two daughters, Paige and Andrea, as well as his grandchildren, Mersadee (Scott), Courtney (Suliasi), Cody, and great-grandchildren, Mason, Averie, Emmy, Cora, and Clover.
