Dear Dad,
I love you so much! I want to be happy that you are free of pain and suffering. I want to be happy that your thoughts, your words, your poetry are no longer trapped in a recalcitrant mind. Your brilliance and humor can once again shine brightly. I want to be happy that you have been reunited with the love of your life. I want to be happy that you finally get to know your daughter, Kathy. And I AM happy, but I miss you terribly! You and Mom were both so kind, thoughtful, and generous. I pray I can live the rest of my life in such a way that I make you proud and, when my time comes, I will be worthy of joining you in the Celestial Kingdom.

So long, Dad! Until we meet again. I’ll miss your jokes and your presence in my life. I guess I’ll have to find someone else who can fix things around the house and always come to my aid.
