Michael Paul Funk's Obituary
Michael Paul Funk was born on August 8, 1973 in Murray, Utah. He was the second born of twins, his brother Matthew being first. Michael was born with a heart defect but overtime it healed until about ten years ago when he had a metal heart valve and a pig’s aortic stem put in his heart. At the time of his death his heart was no longer fully functioning.
Michael loved Scouting. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. At age 14 he began working at scout summer camps as a counselor and continued over the years working in Oregon, Texas, Utah, Montana, South Dakota and Wisconsin. After he became old enough he worked on the rifle and shot gun range as Director.
In high school Michael was on the swim team for East High and also at Fort Douglas Country Club.
He obtained an Associate’s degree in graphic design.
He loved Star Wars and going to movies as well as playing video games. When he lived in California he played as an extra in several movies.
He worked mainly as a prep cook in the food service industry.
He is survived by his Mother Arla, brother Matthew, sister Christine (Brian) Jackson and a Navajo brother Melvin (Julie) Endito as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His Father proceeded him in death.
Many thanks to Amber, who became his best friend in the last few years, who understood Michael well.
