Michael Jeffrey Nielsen's Obituary
Michael Jeffery Nielsen, age 61, passed away peacefully on June 16th at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born on August 24, 1963, in Baldwin Park, California, Mike was the beloved son of Robert and Linda Nielsen. He grew up in Gainesville, Florida, where he graduated from East Side High School and later studied at the University of South Florida.
Mike was a devoted husband to Lynn Nielsen, his partner in life for nearly 23 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving home and raised five incredible children: Felicity, Andrew, Jeremy, Matthew, and Daniel. He was also a proud and cherished grandfather to Sierra, Elliana, Mason, John-Michael, Matthew Jr., Zoey, Azreal, and Travis. His legacy of love and dedication lives on through each of them.
Mike’s passions were as bold as his spirit. He had an unwavering love for food, fitness, and especially strongman training. Always generous with advice and encouragement, he inspired many with his knowledge, enthusiasm, and relentless drive. Sports were a lifelong passion—he was a walking encyclopedia of stats and trivia and a faithful fan of his California teams and the Florida Gators.
To know Mike was to be uplifted by his strength, entertained by his wit, and inspired by his kindness. He brought warmth and joy to everyone, lucky enough to cross his path.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Friday, June 27th at 4 PM at Premier Funeral Services, located at 67 East 8000 South, Salt Lake City Utah, where friends and family are welcome to come together, share stories, and honor the remarkable man he was.
