I am so sorry to hear of the death of Mike Rich. My early childhood memories are filled with days spent with Mike. We rode our bikes everywhere. The gully off 9th south and up Emigration canyon and around and down Parleys canyon stopping for lunch at suicide rock. We frequently went to Hires on 13th south with Mike Barrett and asked for three free root beers. Mike was a big part of my elementary school days and I will always cherish those memories. My regret is that I didn't have the opportunity to reconnect with him before his death. My sympathy and condolences to his family.

Very sad to hear of Mike's passing. I have good memories of Mike from early schools through High School at East. I lost touch after heading to Aspen but the memories remain. He will surely be missed.

Uncle Mike was always pretty quiet and liked to be to himself most of the time. But when you started talking with him he made it really easy to get a long with. Although Mike had a stern exterior, he was super gentle and kind on the inside. My little sister Bethany has autism and struggles with expressing herself to others. Mike always seemed to have a special connection with Bethany, and her with him. Seeing Bethany hang out with Mike shows how lovable he can be. Mike is loved by many and will be missed. I know he is in good company now with Grandpa Sterling, Grandma Beth, his brother Jim and sister Jane.
I played with Mile on the East High Football team and admired his tenacity and fearless playing. I did not want to go against him in practice. After 50 years I met him again at the Reunion and experienced one of his "Steel" hugs. His passing was a shock to me. Last I saw him he was a picture of energy, youth and smiles.

I will always remember the "iron grip" of Uncle Mike. Working on construction projects with him was always a good time, as his humor made light of even the hardest work. Whether lifting sheetrock or smashing concrete, Mike was one of the hardest working and strongest men I ever knew. I am glad that he is up in heaven with Mom now giving her the bear hugs I remember when I was little. Mike's hard work is done and he can finally rest in peace. Love you Big Mike.

Mike was one of the world's great heart-throbs. Every "girl" at the East High Class of '65 50th Reunion wanted to know if Mike Rich was coming. Alas, he only graced the football team gathering with his warm and witty presence. Famously athletic and handsome, what I will remember most about Mike is his kindness and sweetness. When I caught up with him at Emigration Market, he was just the same. In fifth grade, a heel tap fell off of Mike's shoe on the playground. I nabbed it and carried it around for a long time. I wish I still had it.

Michael's family was a great addition to the neighborhood and contributed greatly, As a junior scout leader, I supervised scouts including Jim and Paul at Camp Steiner in August when it froze the water in buckets. Jim fell out of the bunk and bruised his cheek on the coldest night. May this family continue to enliven the world. Robert Bennion
We sure love Mike and all of his fantastic hugs! He will be missed!
