Michael V Williams' Obituary
Our father passed away on Tuesday, Oct 3, 2017, in Murray, Utah, where he shared a home with his daughter Ami.
Michael V Williams was born in Provo, Utah, April 7, 1948, to Vaunt and Lola Williams. He spent his childhood camping and playing at the base of Mount Timpanogos in the Orem foothills. In 1966 while attending Orem High, he excelled at Golden Gloves boxing, earning the ‘Best Prospect’ award and the title for 147-pound class of AAU, after two TKO’s. After graduating in 1966, he enrolled in the Sheetmetal apprenticeship program at Utah Trade Tech in Salt Lake City, then worked as a journeyman for Utah Sheetmetal Workers Union Local 312 throughout his career. Due to a strong recommendation by Uncle Sam, he served in the US Army, from 1968 to 1970. Due to his love of the outdoors, hunting, and fishing, in 1978 he followed his dreams and moved his family to Yaak, Montana, where he bought and ran the Dirty Shame Saloon. After returning to civilization about ten years later, he settled in Utah and worked for Local 312, among other endeavors, until he retired in 2006.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Vaunt C and Lola (Richardson) Williams. He is survived by his sister, Pat, and her children, Jeff, Lance, Brian, Charee, Shannon. His wife, Marion, her children Amanda and Anthony (Jessica) and grandchildren Cameron, Dallas, Jayden, Austin. His daughter Angela and grandchildren Lindsay and Colton. His ex-wife Diane, their children, Ami (Ola) and grandchildren Sherry and Deann, and great-grandson, Luke; Dustin (Selena) and grandchildren Kenadie, Kaylie, Kashlie, Paul; Brandon (Marisa). He was a devoted friend, cousin, uncle, father, and grandfather. He was always a champion for the underdog and ‘fought’ to curb bullying throughout his school years.
The family wants to express a special thank you to the staff of Comfort Worx Hospice, Jordan, Carol, Paige, Dr. Holland, and all the CNA’s that made Michael’s life more comfortable to the end.
The children are hosting a Celebration of Life on Sun, Oct 8, @ 2:00 pm.
