Michael "Scott" Young's Obituary
Michael “Scott” Young, 58, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away on March 5, 2026, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Scott was born on August 12, 1967, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Highland High School, where he graduated and proudly served as the school mascot.
Scott had a deep love for music and spent time working as a DJ, something he truly enjoyed. He was also a passionate Harley enthusiast who loved the freedom of the open road and the community that came with riding. Scott had a love for travel and adventure and spent part of his career working for Delta Air Lines, where he was able to combine his work with his passion for seeing new places. He also enjoyed cheering on BYU football, often with a cold Coke in hand, appreciating the simple moments of the game and good company.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Louise Young, and his 3 children, Breanna Young (Johnny Howard), Davis Young, and Christian Young. He shared a 30 year marriage with Justeen Young, the mother of his children. He was also a proud grandfather to Silas Millward (11), Oakley Young (7), and Willow Howard (1), who brought joy to his life.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Ricky Lynn Young, and his sister, Rashele Evans, whom he now joins.
Scott will be remembered for his strong spirit and joyful sense of humor.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Whisper Cove and Enhabit Hospice for the care, dignity, and support they provided during Scott’s final days.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor in Salt Lake City on his birthday August 12th 2026.
May he ride free and easy on the open road ahead.
