Miguel Angel Alas passed away on May 22, 2020 at the age of 66 in Provo, Utah. Miguel was born on June 19, 1953 in Chalatenango, El Salvador to Josefa and Agustin Alas. He is the first of 10 children. He came to Utah in 1979 and met his soul mate. He married his wife Ana Giron on May 12, 1981.
Miguel was a loving husband, father and grandpa. Miguel was a giving person with a big heart and was always helping in any way he could. Anyone who had the opportunity to meet him loved him. He was the one all his children would go to when they needed a handy man, mechanic or just advice on life. Miguel was a hard worker. He retired in 2017 from Utah Pacific Bridge and Steal.
Miguel loved going fishing every chance he had. His favorite places to fish was Strawberry Lake and Deer Creek. He had his favorite spots to fish everywhere he went. He loved to go fishing with his children, grandkids, son in laws and friends. Every time he came home with A fish he would have his loving wife prepare it just the way he liked it., extra crispy!
His other passion was his garden that he would grow yearly. He would spend countless hours plowing, watering, and taking care of his plants. He loved to plant tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and a variety of peppers. He also had several varieties of fruit trees: apple, peach, cherry, Because of his generous nature, he would always share his fruits and vegetables with anyone he could give them to. Some of his other favorite hobbies included relaxing in his hammock, watching soccer and boxing, and bull riding on the weekends! He loved being surrounded by his family and especially his grandkids. He loved traveling to El Salvador and spending time with his family there as well. He loved going to the beach and rodeos with his uncle and nephew.
Miguel is survived by his wife Ana Giron Alas and his 7 children: Ana Y Alas, Wendy E Alas, Michelle Alas (Joaquin Vazquez), Johanna Alas (Ivan Oropeza), Michael A Alas (Alejandra Anaya), Jessica Sanchez (Gilbert Sanchez), and Diane E Zubiria (Jorge Zubiria) as well as 22 beloved grandchildren.
A viewing for friends and family will be held on Thursday May 28, 2020 from 6- 8 pm at
Premier Funeral Services, 1160 North 1200 West Orem, Utah, with another viewing on Friday from 11 am to 1pm at the same location. Burial to follow at 130 PM at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
