Morgan Chase Meservy's Obituary
Morgan was the first of five sons and one daughter born to Mark and Jileen Meservy. He passed away August 6, 2012 from injuries sustained in a scooter auto accident. Morgan loved sports, especially basketball, snowboarding, wakeboarding and being with his friends and family. A defining moment in his life came when he didn’t make the 9th grade basketball team. He was determined to work as hard as he needed to in order to make the team. He succeeded and played for Spanish Fork High School his 10th and 11th grade years. His senior year, he and his teammates worked together to become region champs for the new Salem Hills High School. He had great drive and determination and loved his teammates and coaches whom he credited for his growth and success.
Morgan received his Eagle Scout award in a joint ceremony with his brother Blake. He was influenced deeply by his many church leaders and those who served to bless him as a young man.
Following high school he received a mission call to serve in the Toronto Canada East mission, where he served Korean and English speaking people from various nationalities. He loved his mission experience and loved those he served as well as all those he served with.
In January 2012, Morgan enrolled at Brigham Young University to pursue a degree in Sports Medicine. Following his initial semester at BYU he worked full time for his aunt and uncle. Morgan planned on returning to BYU this fall and looked forward to being there with his sister McKenna.
Morgan was known for his big smile and for being a hard working, fun loving, happy, and friendly person. Those who knew him appreciated his genuine nature and fun personality. He wanted to live in a way that was true to who he was. He loved his family and extended family, and some of his closest associations were with his cousins and friends. He had a profound love for the Savior and loved to bear powerful testimony of the Lord’s atonement and what it meant to him personally. Morgan was an outstanding example to his siblings and worked hard to show them love in word and deed.
Morgan was preceded in death by his grandparents Keith and Arlene Meservy, Aunt Sally and cousin Cameron. He is survived by his parents Mark and Jileen, and siblings Blake, McKenna, Wade, Drew and Seth.
A viewing will be held in his honor Thursday, August 9, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the LDS church located at 160 S. 460 W., Salem and again Friday, from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at the Salem West Stake Center, 695 S. 300 W., Salem.
