Myrna L Burningham's Obituary
Myrna L. Burningham, 87, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her daughter by her side. She was born on April 19, 1938, in Taylorsville, Utah, to Jay Wilford and Gladys Sansom Labrum, whose love and example helped shape her intelligence, determination, and kindness.
Myrna graduated from Granite High School in 1957 and went on to attend the University of Utah, where she excelled academically and socially. She was a proud member of Delta Delta Delta and served as President of the Theta Phi chapter from 1959 to 1960. In June 1961, she graduated valedictorian with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
On January 12,1961, Myrna married the love of her life, Lowell K. Burningham, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they owned and operated Burningham’s Truck Plaza. They traveled the globe together, stopping at every golf course along the way. They were longtime members of Fort Douglas/Hidden Valley Country Club, where they made many treasured memories.
Myrna had a deep love of sports and seemed to know every team, player, and statistic. Her enthusiasm, wit, and confidence made those conversations especially memorable.
Later in life, Myrna returned to work at the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau, where she enjoyed contributing to events across the state and formed lasting friendships. She took special pride in her involvement with the 2002 Winter Olympics and loved sharing stories from that time.
Myrna is survived by her children, Kelly (Janel) Hogan, Lezlee (Larry) Oxton, and Steve Burningham; and by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell; her brothers, Keith and Richard; and her sons, James and Kraig.
Myrna will be remembered for her sharp mind, generous heart, and deep love for her family and friends. She brought strength, warmth, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved, and her presence was a source of comfort to all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished, and she will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held on June 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Premier Funeral Services, 67 E 8000 S, Midvale, UT.
