Nancy Lee Weight Ricks' Obituary
Nancy Lee Weight Ricks
1947 - 2019
Our dear sweet wife and mother Nancy Lee (Weight) Ricks age 71 passed away in her sleep early Wednesday morning February 27th 2019 from natural causes. To us she was many things: mother, friend, sweetheart, grandmother, sister, daughter, peacemaker, teacher, homemaker, comforter, and now our guardian angel.
Nancy was born on June 26, 1947 to Floyd Martin Weight and Velma Naomi Voorhees in Salt Lake City Utah. She spent most of her youth in the California bay area where she enjoyed being close to her father’s family. She loved life, lived it to the fullest and found joy in simple things. She had a true spirit of adventure and would make even a mundane trip to the store a truly memorable occasion.
Nancy worked for several years as a medical assistant where she met the love of her life Gordon Ricks. Early in their relationship, Nancy and Gordon would enjoy a quick kiss in the supply room and enjoyed keeping this secret. Most of Nancy’s beautiful life was filled caring for her four children and her husband. She greatly enjoyed being a mother and wife. Her kindness, compassion and humor will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Nancy was preceded in death by both her parents. She leaves behind a loving and caring husband Gordon Ben Ricks; four children, Jenette (Scott) Perras, Rebecca (Randy) Sternberg, Eric (Katherine) Ricks, Heather (Hans) Hebert, and ten grandchildren. She also leaves behind two younger sisters Pamela Roberts and Shirleen Moulton.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 610 Rowland Way, Centerville, UT where a viewing will be held prior to services from 8:00 to 9:45 am. Interment and graveside services will be 12:30 pm, Tuesday in the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
