Janene Petersen
Dear Sister Reed, I was so sorry to hear of Natalie's passing. I took violin lessons from Natalie as a young mother nearly 25 years ago. I had played violin in the public school system, but had put down my instrument for several years before I met Natalie. I was so blessed by listening to the way she made her instrument sing and by the confidence she showed in me as I struggled to find the time to practice in the busy time of life I was in. She helped me to prepare for a solo recital right before the birth of my third child. I even think you accompanied me on the numbers that were too difficult for my mother to play. After I moved away I studied with other teachers, but never forgot Natalie and the many things I learned from her. Today I have a music studio where I teach violin to 38 students. As I teach I often think back on my own teachers and their patience and sacrifices in my behalf. I wish I could have thanked Natalie, but at least I can express my gratitude to you. Thank you! Love, Janene Petersen
