Neide Barbagelata Day's Obituary
Neide Barbagelata Day, age 80, passed away peacefully of natural causes November 1st 2022. Neide was born in Lima Peru on May 3rd 1942 to Humberto and Emilia Barbagelata. She was the youngest of 12 children. She came to this country in her twenties to take care of her sick sister. When she came she didn't speak a word of English but was determined to learn the language and become a citizen, and that she did. During this time she met her husband, Glenn Day. They had a fairytale love story and were married December 18th 1965, just shy of 58 years. With lots of hard work and dedication they purchased their first home in Salt Lake City and had their first son, Michael Brian Day. Later on they purchased their second home in Sandy which is where their daughter, Valarie Corrina Heise was born. She retired from Arrowhead Dental Lab in 2017 after more than 20 years. My mom was a beautiful quiet soul and was known for her great integrity, complete honesty, hard working mind and her superior kindness. I think it is safe to say that we could all learn something from her sweet spirit. My mom found great joy in being a grandmother to her 6 grandchildren and was the best grandma the kids could have asked for. A devoted wife, mom, sister, grandma and friend to many she was loved deeply and cherished by her family. Losing my mom has definitely been the hardest thing we have gone through and she will be missed more than words. Knowing that she is finally out of pain and free from her sick body and is no longer a prisoner to her mind is what keeps us going every day. She deserves to be free and I know she is looking down on us, watching over us always. Neide is survived by her two sisters (Betty & Lourdes), many nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren (Julio, Antonio, Diego, Christopher, Katie and Clara), two great-grandchildren (Sophie & Jackson), two children (Michael Brian & Valarie) and many extended family and friends.
We will be having a Celebration of Life for my mom on Sunday November 20th from 2:30 - 5:30pm at the Suncrest Clubhouse located at 2016 E. Village Green Circle in Draper Utah.
