Nolan LeGrande Maxfield's Obituary
Nolan LeGrande Maxfield, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Lehi, Utah, on September 8, 2024, at the age of 88.
Born on April 14, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to LeGrande O. Maxfield and Miriam Van Wagoner, Nolan grew up with strong values and a deep sense of faith. He married his first wife, Connie Bird and together they raised five wonderful children. Nolan later married Peggie Pickett Dahle on December 6, 2008, in Lehi, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Nolan served in numerous church callings throughout his life, including positions in the Bishopric, High Council, teacher, and many other callings. His service to the church was a testament to his unwavering faith and his many experiences of spiritual growth and inspiration touched the lives of those around him.
Nolan began his professional journey in the banking sector before transitioning into a successful career as a stockbroker and financial planner. Later in life, he worked in marketing for ABL Silver, where his dedication to the product was well-known—every family member owned some silver-based treatment in their medicine cabinets thanks to him.
Nolan had a lifelong passion for music, particularly classical music, and cherished his time singing with the Jay Welch Chorale. He found joy in the beauty of nature, photography, admired cars, and never missed the opportunity to watch a breathtaking sunset. His 27 years of service in the Utah National Guard Med Evacuation unit and later in the Air Force Reserve further demonstrated his commitment to his country and community. Nolan attributed his hearing loss to the long flights taken in those large cargo planes.
Above all, Nolan will be remembered for his kindness, patience, and unfailingly optimistic outlook on life. His gentle nature and uplifting spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Nolan is survived by his beloved wife, Peggie Maxfield; his children: Scott (Sheri) Maxfield, Debbie (Jim) Roberts, Mark (Paula) Maxfield, Eric (JaNean) Maxfield, and Brad (Lori) Maxfield; his step-children: Michelle Auman, Jill Berry, and Debbie (Sam) Campbell. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and his sister, Diane (Reed) Lindholm. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings David H (Lori) Maxfield, Carla (Ned) Christensen, and a step-son Michael Dahle.
Nolan's legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, at 11:30 a.m. at the Jordan Willows 2nd Ward Chapel 1680 West 700 South, Lehi, Utah, under the direction of Bishop Brent Prime. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow at the Utah Veterans Cemetery, 17111 S Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale, Utah.
