Norma Ruth Johnson Asay's Obituary
Norma Ruth Johnson Asay, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep and returned joyously to the arms of her Heavenly Father on January 18, 2023 at the age of 79. Ruth was born to Sixtus Ellis and Edith Arvella Johnson in 1943 in Price, Utah. Ruth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved attending the temple and one of her favorite callings in the church was to extract names from microfilm for family history and temple work. Ruth was an avid reader and she also loved to write. In 2010 she won 1st place in the Utah Division of Arts and Museums Original Writing Competition in the juvenile book category for "The Witch Broom Maker of Goblin Valley". Ruth loved flowers and taking magical journeys in nature. Her greatest joy came from raising her eight children and spending time with her grandchildren. She was loving, accepting, generous, and a wonderful listener. Ruth will be greatly missed by her children: Jay Keel, Julie Keel Ray (Glen), Andrea Stringham, Nathan Asay, Jennifer Wordelman (Paul), Aleta Jacox (Craig), Samuel Asay, Melissa Asay (Kevin), and her grandchildren: Mark, Jason, Rodney, James, Ruth, Cora, LaMar, Susan, Mary, Bradley, Heather, Jonny, Raymond, Amy, Aaron, Kyra, Andrew, and Kameron.
Funeral services will be held February 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at 650 S. 200 E. Bountiful, Utah. Prior to the service there will be a viewing from 10:00-11:00 a.m. She will be interred in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
