Norma Verdean Clyde Martin's Obituary
Norma Verdean Clyde Martin, 93, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, at Highland Cove Assisted Living. She took a fall outside and never recovered.
Born October 18, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Reese and Alta Law Clyde. Norma graduated from American Fork High School. She worked at the Salt Lake Country Club as dining room manager, the Alta Club and Little America as Banquet Manager. After retirement, Norma volunteered at Zion National Park for two years. She also volunteered for the Senior Citizen Committee for several years. She married Ronald E. Martin (deceased) and later divorced. Norma had 5 children.
Norma had many friends through the years and was known for her non-judgmental acceptance, kindness, generosity and had a great sense of humor.
Norma is survived by her daughter Shauna Timmerman (Steve); Linda Townsend (Martin); Ronald Martin; and Brian Martin (Kristeen) and several adored grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reese and Alta Clyde, and her daughter, Cheryl Shifflet (Ellsworth).
The family would like to thank all the staff at Highland Cove Assisted Living and Hospice Care for the short time she was there and all the love and attention they gave her.
A celebration of Norma’s life will be held 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm on September 20, 2025, at Bell Canyon Park, 11400 South 1700 East in the Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Salt Lake City Women’s Shelter in Norma’s memory.
Norma’s warmth, kindness and unwavering support of others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
