From 1969-1972 I enjoyed being accompanist for Brother Brandt Curtis in Opera Workshop at BYU (and other soloists and groups). Though I did not read of his passing, I'm sending my condolences to your family upon the passing of his wife Norma. They were very special people in my life while attending BYU before my graduation and teaching in Milford, Ut. and finally in Kanab, Ut. where I met and married my husband Gene D. Tait and have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Thanks to Brandt and Norma and their family for all their loving support while I was a student in Provo. To the Curtis Family, I'm sorry to hear of your Mothers passing. I always loved your Mom. I have lots of memories of her growing up. She was always so nice to me.I remember having fun at your house. sledding, I loved that snow slide the big brothers built, and we'd all ride innertubes down the hill past the pond. And playing down in the kitchen.(the restaurant.)Barbies, Hearing your Dad sing, And Ester, I to this day, hope you forgive me for locking you out. don't know what I was thinking. My Mom wanted to kill me for the both of you. You were all great neighbors.(you might not have thought the same of us) haha. Good memories of you all and your parents. I always thought Your Mom was so sweet. Glad we got to be your neighbors. I have many fond memories. She was a special lady. I'm thankful I got to know her. My Mom got a kick out of her calling our Clematis flower vine a Colitis. Wow I just keep thinking of all kinds of stories. I had the privilege of being Norma's first grandchild & I have so many great memories of her that I hardly know where to begin. When I was very young, I had a sleepover at Grandma's house and she took me to the DI where she bought me a stuffed animal for a nickel. I distinctly remember that moment and how sweet she was to buy it for me. Grandma was a great cook. I particularly remember the pies. My husband John and I would bring her pie at Golden Living. When we asked if she'd like some she'd say in her cute little voice, "I wouldn't mind."
I will always remember Grandma for being so kind and loving and for her great sense of humor. She kept her sense of humor to the end and could still make us laugh even when she struggled to communicate with us. I am so grateful to have had Norma as my Grandma in this life and I will miss her very much. I'm so happy she got to meet John while she was alive and pleased that she approved of him. She will live in my heart forever along with all the wonderful memories I am so blessed to have.
I love you Grandma!!
