Norman "Ray" Lechtenberg's Obituary
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Norman “Ray” Lechtenberg passed away on Thursday December 14th at his home in Roy, Utah. He was born September 25, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Eldon R. and Norma L. (Skancky) Lechtenberg.
He was raised in Clearfield, Utah and attend Clearfield High School and excelled in academics and swimming. He served an LDS mission in Seoul, South Korea. Ray attended Utah State University and after graduating he entered the US Air Force as an officer. He continued to pursue his education goals and obtained his MBA from the University of Utah as well as his CPA certification.
While at Utah State he met and married RaNae Wilhelm in the Logan LDS temple. They spent their life together stationed at bases throughout the United States and Japan where he received many service medals and awards. After 20 years of service he retired from the Air Force and went on to work as an auditor at Wright Patterson and Hill AFB for another 15 years.
After officially retiring he and RaNae enjoyed travelling the country and world through many trips and cruises making wonderful memories. Ray was known for his sense of humor and teasing with family and friends. He was a dedicated husband, Father and Grandpa. He enjoyed his time with the grandkids always having them tell him “I Love You Grandpa” and he would repeat back to them “I Love You ‘grandchild name’ ”. He also loved spending time camping in his retro van, fishing, playing handball and snow skiing.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul. He is survived by his wife RaNae, his children Bryce (Leda) Lechtenberg, Lindsey (Jerry) Ancell, Jacy Winner, Brett (Stephanie) Lechtenberg and 15 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Joan) Lechtenberg and sister Vicki Doman and many nieces and nephews.
Viewings will be held at the Roy 12th Ward LDS chapel, 4524 S. 2525 W., Roy, Utah on Thursday December 21st from 6-8pm and on Friday, December 22nd from 9-10:30am. The Friday viewing will be followed by a graveside service at the Clearfield Cemetery, 1050 S State St, Clearfield, Utah at 11am.
