Orson Herrmann's Obituary
Orson Herrmann
1939 - 2019
Orson Herrmann passed away on September 17, 2019. Orson was born to German immigrant parents in Brooklyn, New York on July 3, 1939. His family moved to Salt Lake City when he was eight years old and he spent the rest of his life living in the area. Orson served in the ROTC in high school, and the Army for several years in the 1960s. He remained a staunch supporter of the military and veterans. Orson eventually graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. His love of tropical fish led him to having 30 aquariums in college, which he used to breed various fish species that he sold to local fish stores to support himself. He later opened Salt Lake Aquarium, a tropical fish store in Holladay, Utah, which he ran for nearly 20 years. Orson loved to converse about history, politics and trivia, including his vegetable gardens, which he would boast about to anyone willing to listen. Orson was also a proud member of the LDS church.
He is survived by two brothers, six children and nine grandchildren.
