As a professional colleague of Ortho's at Northland Pioneer College in Holbrook Arizona in the 1970's and a brother in the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have known Ortho in all kinds of situations. He is a giant in the field of art and a humble, loving son of his Heavenly Father. He and Myrna were as one in this life and now are one in eternity. My condolences go out to Jared and all of the other offspring; they will miss him as will we. But I feel a moment of exultant joy to know that he is with his Heavenly Father, Myrna, his little boy and will be there for the rest of us when our time comes. Ortho truly is one who has "gone home."

Erastus Snow Family was honored to have Ortho Fairbanks sculpture the Bust of our Ancestor; erected at the entrance to the St. George Tabernacle. He was not only a famous artist but a kind soft spoke man who put his heart and soul into his work.

Moana, Nancy, Jared and Malia - Our memories of Laie are so much better because of Ortho and Myrna and their sweet 'little children'. It isn't easy to have a father pass to the other side, but it is eased somewhat since you know he is with your sweet mom and they continue serving. We love all of you. We were so thankful to have Jared (and Malia..) care for us when my Craig passed in 2013. May you have peace in your hearts at this time.

Ive known Bro. Fairbanks since he was in our ward in Hawaii. My memories of him are that he's cheerful and kind and mindful of children. The way he acted around my children, playfully and with real interest, is a model for me. My son who is serving a mission right now is an artist and I hoped he'd be able to learn from Bro. Fairbanks when he got home. I'm sad for that lost opportunity. The latest work that I have seen of Bro. Fairbanks is his bust of Christ in the Conference Center. I love it! It is so full of emotion!
I am sad that seeing Bro. Fairbanks is no longer possible.

Dear Jared, Margene told me of your dad's passing. His obituary told of a remarkable man...another veteran hero. I am truly sorry for your sad loss. I pray for God's blessings of comfort and consolation to you and your family through your time of grief. I am sorry for you loss. Great Uncle Art was a great man and he will be missed. My favorite memory of him was at a fairbanks cousin reunion at his house and he took us into his studio to see some of his work.
