Owen Leland Foote's Obituary
Owen Leland Foote passed away peacefully in his home on November 30, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born on October 11, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leland Jacob Foote and Lucy Lydia Tanner. He was the oldest of three children.
Owen married his childhood sweetheart on September 2, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 69 years. In 1962 they purchased their forever home in Murray, Utah. They raised their 5 children there. They made many wonderful friendships that they value greatly.
Owen was blessed with a positive attitude, a great sense of humor, dedication to his family and friends, and unwavering commitment to his Savior. He was loved and appreciated by all. His sense of honor was second to none. He always had a joke up his sleeve and was willing to share this gift with his family or anyone else he could. His example will always be remembered.
Owen graduated from the University of Utah with an Electrical Engineering degree. He loved to solve problems and figure out how things worked. His passion for learning kept him constantly reading and taking on new adventures. His career took him worldwide, allowing him to meet many new friends. He was known for his honesty and integrity which allowed him to be trusted with many difficult challenges.
Owen loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and thoroughly enjoyed serving others. He was a gentle spirit and a lifelong believer. He could often be found serving in the youth organization. Owen loved playing and coaching sports, he spent much of spring and summer coaching his boys in little league baseball. He loved serving in both the Jordan River and Salt Lake Temples. Owen faithfully served in many church assignments, including Bishop of the South Cottonwood 13th Ward.
In his retirement years, Owen and Marilyn served as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Manchester England. They were loved by all their friends and missionaries. Owen had a passion for writing and took the time to publish his biography for his family to enjoy.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Sister Sharon Cloward (Richard Deceased), and Brother Gordon Foote (Susan). He has five children: Brent (Vickie) Foote, Craig (Julia) Foote, Deborah (Doug) Hansen, Randy (RaAnn) Foote, and Kelly (Shem) Hendricks. He has 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, December 4th, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Chevy Chase Ward building. Located at 5235 South Wesley Road (1107 East) in Murray City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 5th at 11:00 AM with a viewing prior to the funeral from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM at 5235 South Wesley Road (1107 East) in Murray City. Interment at the Murray City Cemetery.
