Patricia Lucille Barabachano's Obituary
Patricia Lucille Barbachano
February 7, 1941 – March 22, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Lucille Barbachano on March 22, 2025, at Monument Healthcare in Bountiful, Utah. She was 84 years old.
Patricia was born on February 7, 1941, in Gridley, California, to Clifford Theodore Saake and Else Emilie Gitzel. In the late 1960s, she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked as a secretary for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It was there that she met Joaquin M. Barbachano, who was serving in the U.S. Army, at a dance. They married and went on to have six children in just under four years, including two sets of twins! Though they later divorced in 1978, Patricia’s love and dedication to her children never wavered.
Following the divorce, she moved with her young children to Palmer, Alaska, where she worked for the State of Alaska’s Vocational Rehabilitation Department. Patricia was a hardworking and determined mother, balancing her career while raising her children with love and resilience.
After taking early retirement, Patricia embraced new adventures. She traveled to Germany and Colorado with one of her daughters and her family, broadening her experiences and creating cherished memories. Later, she pursued her passion for healing by studying to become a massage therapist, taking classes in Colorado and Utah. While she never worked professionally as a massage therapist, she selflessly used her skills to provide relief to those in pain, offering comfort and care to many in her Salt Lake City apartment complex.
A devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Patricia found great strength in her faith. She lived her life with kindness, service, and a deep love for her family and the gospel.
In September of 2024, Patricia experienced a fall in her apartment, which led to a hospital stay and eventually to skilled nursing care at Monument Healthcare in Bountiful, Utah. Despite these challenges, she remained strong and continued to share her warmth and love with those around her.
She is survived by her loving children: Juan Barbachano, Liana Hoemke (LeRoy), Leon Barbachano (Vickie), Winona Moss (Ken), Deandra Christiansen (Greg), and Aurora Zortman (Joe). She was also a proud grandmother to 23 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. Patricia’s love, wisdom, and unwavering faith will live on through them and all who were blessed to know her.
The family is grateful for the love and support they have received during this time.
Patricia’s legacy of love, faith, resilience, and service will remain in our hearts forever.
