Patricia "Tricia" Elizabeth Tibolla's Obituary
Our beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Tricia Tibolla, passed away on July 4th after a courageous 2 year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born April 20, 1950, in Salt Lake City to John E. and Lucile Fassio Tibolla and was the youngest of four children. She graduated with honors from Murray High School and attended the University of Utah on a Kennecott Copper scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. She married Wesley Marsden in 1980 and had their daughter, Lily, in 1982. As a young woman, she owned an antique shop with her sister, Diane, and has since been a great collector, filling our home with everything from Cloisonné to salt-and-pepper shakers to beautiful artwork and statues. She was a great collector of movies as well, having a library of over 1000 movies that she loved to watch. Starting in her late 20’s, she became a dedicated employee of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Utah Hospital, where she worked for 38 years; she was known as the “Queen of Dermatology” and will always be greatly missed. She was an incredibly athletic woman who started each weekday with a run followed by an aerobics class that she had taught for 25 years. Come sun, rain or snow, her weekends were spent in the canyons hiking. She also loved baking in her free time, always making birthday cakes for her co-workers and delivering trays of cookies to all our neighbors at Christmas. For over 30 years, she was a devoted fan of the U of U gymnastics team, rarely missing a meet and collecting signed posters, media guides and newspaper articles.
She is survived by her mother, husband and daughter, as well as her sister Diane (Arley) Curtz her brothers John (Bonnie) Tibolla and Terry (Liz) Tibolla, her brother-in-law Greg (Megan) Marsden, sister-in-law Jeanne Marsden and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and nephew J. Mikal Tibolla.
We would like to thank our neighbor Fran Chamberlin and sister-in-law Jeanne Marsden for the care and support they given for the last 2 months.
We would also like to recognize Dr. Theresa Werner, Esther Kannapel and her nurses Rachel and Stephanie at Huntsman Cancer Hospital for their tireless efforts, as well as her hospice nurse Jennifer Demko at Community Nursing Services who was there for us everyday when we needed her.
Trish was an amazing, caring woman who has left her mark in this world and will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Huntsman Cancer Hospital and Community Nursing Services.
