Patricia Ann Eppley's Obituary
Patricia Ann Eppley (Cook), age 88, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born on April 14, 1936, to Thelma Jean Cook (Stecker) and Ivan E. Cook in Bristow, Oklahoma. Pat grew up in Salina, Kansas, with her parents and brothers Gary and David. She graduated from Salina High School in 1953. Pat was briefly married and had a daughter, Candace Crawford. Pat married the love of her life, Byrd William Eppley Jr. (Bill), on August 31st, 1957. In 1958, Pat and Bill welcomed daughter Roxanne. In 1959, they all moved to Basalt, Colorado, taking Pat from a city life to a country life. In 1964, Pat and Bill welcomed their son Byrd William III (Trey). While living in Basalt, Pat worked in Aspen, Colorado, at the Villa Hotel as well as bookkeeping for Eppley Construction. In 1970, the Eppley family moved to Park City, UT, where Pat continued her bookkeeping for Eppley Construction. Pat was a kind, loving, and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Pat had a very loving and giving heart and was very involved in the education of her children. She spent a lot of time volunteering at the schools and was on the PTA in Park City, Utah, and the PTA and school board for Salt Lake Junior Academy in SLC, Utah. There was no end to Pat’s generosity. She created a loving home and always welcomed anyone who needed a place to stay or a delicious home-cooked meal.
Her husband Bill was a pilot and had his own Cessna 170, which Pat learned to fly. She enjoyed flying the plane so much and became such a great pilot herself that she even soloed in Heber City, Utah. She said it was one of the scariest things she had ever done.
Pat had many interests. She enjoyed camping, boating, traveling, flying, and golfing. She also had many hobbies, such as cooking, knitting, sewing, playing the piano, drawing, and painting. She was quite the artist, a trait she passed on to her family. She also had a love of music, her favorite being Elvis Presley.
To Pat, family was the most important thing in the world and her pride and joy. She loved being a wife and mother, and her love for her family grew as she became a grandmother and great-grandmother. She always talked about how blessed she was because of her family. Doing things for and with her family was her greatest joy. “Gram,” as she was called by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an ever-flowing river of love, laughter, and joy.
Her favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was always finding some fun activity to do together, creating endless memories and fun for all. Pat loved to teach her family how to cook recipes that had been passed down for generations. She spent many hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Recently, she loved coloring with the great-grandkids and playing dinosaurs.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Roxanne (Steve), her son Trey (Sheri), her grandchildren, Alisha (Carlos), Chelsee, Zachary (Lola), and Callie, and her great-grandchildren Frankie, Harper, Mateo, and Baby Girl on the way.
Preceded in death by her husband Bill, mother Thelma, father Ivan, brothers Gary and David, and daughter Candace.
Condolences to the family can be sent to 9958 S. Peach Grove Circle, South Jordan, UT 84095. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
