Patricia Rose Thompson's Obituary
Patricia Rose Thompson, age 86, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in West Valley City, Utah. One day before her 67th wedding anniversary.

Patricia was raised in Merced where she attended and graduated from Merced High School in 1955, while holding the position of class treasurer.
Patricia met the love of her life, Russell Stewart Thompson, while he was stationed at Castle Air Force Base. They met at church services in the Merced LDS ward and later, on October 17, 1957, were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
After Russell was discharged from the Air Force, they moved to Russell’s hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah and later resided in West Valley City, Utah where they raised their 4 children.
Patricia had a love for her country and enjoyed keeping caught up on local and world news. Her hobbies included reading and working on the daily Salt Lake Tribune crossword puzzles. She enjoyed hosting swimming parties in their beautiful backyard. She also loved decorating and remolding the home she and Russell lived in for 65 years.
Patricia loved the holiday season and together with her husband they started a family tradition of making candy. She perfected the toffee, while her husband Russ made the chocolates that became a cherished family gift.
Any time she could, she was happy to travel back to her hometown state of California to visit her family.
Patricia had a strong testimony in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she was honored to serve as Relief Society President along with many other callings in the Granger 10th Ward.
The most important part of Patricia’s life was her family. She always put them before herself and was completely selfless with her love.
Patricia had a beautiful smile, loved a good laugh and had a pure innocence about her. She had the sweetest soul and was strong and resilient to go through life with the many challenges she faced. Our dear mother will be extremely missed especially by those who loved her.
The family would like to thank Utah Home Health and Hospice and the amazing staff for the wonderful and comforting care they provided Patricia and her family. A special thank you to Danielle, her nurse, who treated Patricia with such dignity, compassion and love.
