Dennis Anderson
Dear Family, I have long held a great love and respect for my wonderful coach. Memories of playing for such a fine, gentle man have been with me since my days as a basketball player at good old Weber High in '60 and '61. He treated each of us with kindness and respect and got the best out of us as young men and as players. I said many times to my dear wife, Marcia: " I want to go see Coach Salvo." I put it off too long. The last time I saw him though was a joy when I spoke briefly with him and Betty at our 50 year reunion. Reading his obituary was the first time I knew about his life before coaching us. He was always interested in us and never spoke about himself at all. What an extraordinary American he was. Dutch told me a few years ago that Coach Salvo helped him a lot with our baseball team - always behind the scenes. He wasn't even in our team picture, yet he was our coach too. I was very fortunate to have had him as a my coach and as my friend and send my deepest condolences to all of you. With love and kindest regards, Dennis Anderson.
