Paul Edward Stroh April 21st, 1946 to September 23rd 2021 “Just leaving the Gate” Paul Edward Stroh passed from his earthly vessel on September 23rd, 2021 of natural causes surrounded by family in Ogden, Utah. Paul was born April 21st, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents John Edward Stroh and Opal Yvonne Cummins. The eldest of three sons, Paul grew up on Lake Street and attended East High School. Paul developed a passion for car racing and spent his time with buddies turning a wrench on his beloved Ford Comet. They worked endlessly in the garage to prepare for the next drag racing event. He had one of the fastest Comets in town, winning many trophies and awards. Paul married Lana and they raised three children: Scott Matthew, Teresa, and Shane. His second wife was named Katrina, no children. Paul later married Susan and raised two more children: Caleb James and Crystal Yvonne. His fourth wife was named Linda Rose, no children. For the last ten years Paul developed a deep love for his special lady Rita Hill. He was always so proud of all his children. He tried to teach them his knowledge and wisdom and help them “understand the process.” After retiring, he continued to work with his youngest son Caleb. He wished them all the greatest success. Paul worked for Mountain Bell for a number of years as a telephone technician and afterwards several other telecommunications companies in Salt Lake City. He took pride in his job and had a work ethic he was sure to pass along to his children. He also spent a brief time out on the road, mostly in the western US, as a long-haul truck driver. He enjoyed calling home to tell stories of all the unique places he’d been and the beautiful country he’d seen. Paul was an outdoorsman and motor racing enthusiast all his life. In his younger years, he would compete in marathons, race hotrods at the drag strip, and ride Harleys in the canyons. He never lost his competitive edge, noting at the stoplight that he was going to “Ace” the car next to us when the light turned green. He treasured time spent hiking, camping, off-roading, hunting, fishing, target shooting, and was an avid supporter of the Utah Chukar & Wildlife Foundation. He loved trail riding with his mules and caring for his dogs. Later in life, he began a fascination with custom knives. He collected many over the years; some of the finest cutlery you could lay your eyes on. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his fourth wife, Linda Rose. He is survived by his “Lovee” Rita Hill, his five children: Scott (Kim), Teresa (John), Shane, Caleb, Crystal (Jeff), seven grandchildren, and siblings Bruce (Cindy), and Dave (Georgia). He always said, “Don’t forget to love each other and hug each other”.
