Paul Kembur Young's Obituary
Paul Kembur Young, 69, passed away peacefully February 1, 2023, surrounded with the love of his family.
Paul was given a second chance at life in 2003 when he received a liver transplant after living two years in liver failure. He had a deep, new appreciation to live. He could find the positive side to any situation. He was also given the opportunity to meet, love and cherish his two grandsons Vann and Abel. They were the light of his life.
Paul was born September 16, 1953, at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City Utah to Paul Gould Young and Nancy Carol Reed Young.
He attended Weber High School. He worked for Smith and Edwards for a few years and then took on a job with the Ogden Water Works, where he acquired the nickname “Bubbles” because he could hold his breath the longest while in a manhole. He went on to a career with Volvo-White Trucking, which was cut short due to a back injury that disabled him.
Paul dedicated his life to helping others in any way he could and loved his family unconditionally.
He cared for the large yard at his parents for years once they were unable to maintain it themselves. He would wake up early in the morning on snowy days, start a pot of coffee, put on his coveralls and head out to snow blow all the neighbors’ driveways before they would have a chance to realize it had snowed.
Paul was known for his green thumb. He bought a house in 1992 and transformed it into a home, thriving in lush green grass, trees, and beautiful flowers. Friends and family gathered there for many years to enjoy the beauty he created and to spend time with him. He took pride in all that he did and never cut corners. He taught his daughters so many valuable life lessons with a kind and patient approach. We learned how to catch our own night crawlers and bait a hook, how to build a fire, and change a car tire, how to drive a vehicle, and mow the lawn. He was empathetic and non-judgmental. You could talk to him about anything, and he would listen with genuine interest and intent.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother Joe, his sister Susan, and Kathy
He is survived by his daughters Jessica (Tyson) Child, Jen (Jason) Gough, their mother Becky Casey, and the loves of his life; his grandsons Vann and Abel Gough, his brothers Bruce Cunnington, David (Vicki) Young, James (Colleen) Young, nieces and nephews Steven, Courtney, Brandi, Renee, Tyler, Connor, Brock, great nieces and nephews Mercedes, Angelo, Tylar, Piper, Koen, Lillian, Zo’rion, and Sora; and many more wonderful family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held February 18th at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 2374 Grant Ave., Ogden
