Paula M Sowers' Obituary
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Paula M Sowers (97), our beloved Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Best Friend on April 27, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her home in Eden, UT. The daughter of Paul H Martin and Bess Williams Martin, Paula was born on February 22, 1926 in Buena, WA and attended Washington State University where she met and married the love of her life, Clyde Sowers Jr. on Sept. 17, 1946 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. They moved to Eden, UT and proudly ran the Sowers Eden Valley Limousine Cattle Ranch. They spent much of their free time at the Patio Springs Golf Course where their children took up the sport and enjoyed the barbeques afterwards with the community. Paula loved serving as President of the Patio Springs Ladies Golf Association alongside her husband, Clyde, as he served as President of the Men’s Golf Association and with their son, Dick, the President of the Junior Golf Association. Paula was blessed to travel the world with her daughter Paula Ann and shared her love of travel and the Oregon Coast with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that has blossomed into a family tradition for generations. Paula cherished her family and generously opened her home to Barbara and her young family as they were building their house next door. We can’t describe what a privilege it was to grow up on a farm and spend our childhood and adulthood surrounded by such incredible grandparents.
Paula was a proud member of multiple Bridge Clubs, P.E.O. Chapter F, and Sewing Circle. She was active in the Junior League and a volunteer for the Deaf and Blind school where she converted books into braille. She was a devoted member of the Chi Omega Fraternity for 75 years.
She is survived by her three children, Dick (Shug) Sowers, Paula Ann Sherwin, and Barbara (Chuck) Heward; as well as 7 granddaughters: Tori, Danielle, Alexis, Sierra, Amy, Katie, and Little Paula. Pink Grandma was a proud Great Grandmother of 13 beautiful great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and her loving sister Betty Martin Snyder.
A special thanks to the many care givers of Bristol Hospice, Weber Fire District (Station 62), Roy Kent and the unconditional love shown by Bruce and Amy Lou Willden. Your kindness and personal touch will never be forgotten.
As per Paula’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
