Peter Moroni Johansen's Obituary
Peter Moroni Johansen born March 16th 1928 in their home at 770 West 5300 South Murray, Utah. He received his dad's name Peter but went by Moroni. He went to school at Murray High and Utah State University and the University of Utah. He was an artist and won many prizes until the 7th grade, then he became involved in sports. In high school he broke the record for pole vaulting he was close to the championship in 1951 for Church softball and just lost by one game and came in second place. He married Maurine Woodward on June 7th 1950, they were married for over 70 years. They had 12 children, 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He started Johansen heating on the day his 11th child was born December 3rd 1974. He continued this business for 43 years. He worked and repaired homes, Ward houses in Taylorsville and West Jordan he traveled the world frequently with his wife Maurine. He enjoyed motorcycles and going to the salt flats with his children. He taught all of his children sports as they were growing up. At the age of 79 he was finally beat in tennis by his son Lyle Johansen after several attempts by children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Zola Maurine Woodward Johansen, Leana Maurine Morris, Deana Marele Bawden, Carey Moroni Johansen, Sidney Melvin Johansen, Steven Glen Johansen, Lyle Mark Johansen, Kimberly Marcine Taggart, Stephanie Lanell Courdy, Jason Londell Johansen, Cassandra Machelle Johansen, Jamie Lance Johansen, and Lynn John Johansen. He was truly an amazing father, husband and human being! We'll always miss him!
