Margaret Little
I have lived at Woodland Park Care Center for 6 years and Phillip "Turkey" Chapman was here when I moved in. I will forever miss listening to him gobbling down the hall.
Here are some fun memories of our Turkey Bird:
I told him when he got his foot amputated that he lost a drumstick.
When the Wound Nurse was helping him I always pointed out that she was dressing a Turkey.
Every year we discussed whether or not either the US President or the Utah Governor would give him another pardon for one more year.
Turkey Bird told us that he had a turkey named Gertrude who was trained to walk across the hitching post on the TV series "Grisly Adams." He also told us that he is a relative to the famous Johnny (Chapman) Appleseed.
Turkey Bird used to bless the sacrament for us every Sunday and my Sister used to take his Sunday dress shirt and under shirt home once in awhile and washed it because he was afraid of losing it in the laundry.
We have lots of great memories of our Old Beloved Turkey Bird. I wish you a very peaceful journey home to heaven Phil.
Until we meet again :-) <3
