Phillip R "Bob" Jacobson's Obituary
Phillip Robert "Bob" Jacobson of Murray, UT, passed away from complications due to the effects and treatment of cancer on April 7, 2016 at the age of 81. He spent his last days with Anita "The Wife of his Youth" and surrounded by his family.
Dad was born March 10, 1935 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Eric William and Signild Erika (Englund) Jacobson, they moved to Salt Lake City while he was still a baby. He went to South High School and graduated in 1954. Dad served an LDS Mission in Australia and "sailed around the world" to get there. He also served in the Air National Guard.
On August 6, 1965, he married Anita Marie Martin. She was from Idaho but had come to Utah to go to beauty school. They met at a church dance and it was love at first sight. This past August they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
He is survived by his wife Anita, his daughter Michelle (Lance) Sawyer, son Jonathan (BreAnn), his brothers Bill and Jarl, five granddaughters Hannah, Sasha, Valerie, Elle and Lyla and grandson Harry.
Dad was a dental technician, and called himself a dental "mechanic". He owned his own business and enjoyed his work, only completely retiring a few months before his passing. Dad loved anything motorized. Planes, trains, cars and especially loved his motorcycle (he had many throughout the years). Dad was devoted to his Christian faith and prized his Swedish heritage.
He made a lasting impression on many people during his life and enriched the lives of those who knew him.
We would like to thank everyone at Quality Hospice who helped our family during his last few days, and the nurses and doctors at IMC.
There will be a memorial service at 11 AM on Saturday, April 16 at the Wentworth at Willow Creek assisted living community 8315 S. Highland Drive (Valet parking provided). The service will be followed by a luncheon at 1:00 PM at the South Cottonwood Stake Center (1250 E 4500 S)
The family would like to request cash in lieu of flowers to help with mom’s memory care.
