I grew up about 8 houses away from the Hoers and I was friends with Dave & Stan from grade school, boy scouts, and church basketball. Clete & Mike (later Clete & Steve) were our family home teachers, and Clete baptized my mother when she converted. My mother was good friends with Phyllis, and our families did a lot of stuff together. My condolences go out to Dave, Stan, Clete and all the other Hoer kids I grew up with. Your mom was a nice lady
My sincere condolences to the Brother Hoer and the Hoer family. Sister Hoer was such a dear lady. She was one of the many wonderful women I looked up to growing up in the Boulder 1st Ward. I pray that all of your happy memories of this amazing woman will lift you and sustain you in the days and years to come until you can be with her again.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to have known Sister Hoer. Her influence in my life has been greater than she will probably ever know. She was one of the Stake Missionaries that taught our family the new member discussions. Later she was my Merrie Miss leader and her love for all of us girls was so evident. She welcomed us into her home, taught us to crochet, and loved us unconditionally. I still think of her every time I hear the Primary song "I Will Follow God's Plan." Later, she helped me earn money for my mission by allowing me the opportunity to help transcribe her family history. She was a remarkable lady who touched my life for good. An incredibly exemplary woman with the gift of teaching a lesson with a specific thesis and encouraging participation from the students in a friendly environment, Phyllis represented the best the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has to offer for someone skillfully and humbly prepared. It was a joy to be with her, to see the rock solid support she gave her husband, also a very gifted teacher and exemplary man of integrity, wit, and charm. Always friendly, courteous, accommodating, and filled with the joy of life and the breadth of vision for a future filled with happiness and longevity, she became someone for us that we wished somehow to have her and Cletus stay in our geographical area to allow their influence to be felt by us much longer. We cherish the time it was our privilege to be in her midst and pray the Lord’s comforting influence to fill Cletus as he adjusts to this new journey he has been called upon to take in this great plan of Happiness, so wonderfully organized by Christ in whom our faith resides as we await our chance, too, at joining those who have gone on before.
