Phyllis Macdonald
Family and friends of Phyllis Pearson Macdonald will be celebrating her life at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Windsor Stake Center, 60 East 1600 North in Orem, UT. A visitation will be held at 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Concluding services and interment will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Mesa, AZ.
Phyllis was born January 9, 1929 in American Fork to Lena and Dr. Ernest Allen Pearson, the only town dentist at the time. Phyllis has 2 brothers, Robert Pearson, (deceased), (Afton) of Highland, Utah and Richard Pearson (Janice) of Lindon, UT. Her sister Lucille Eastman (Rex, deceased) lives in Merced, California.
Phyllis graduated from Orem’s Lincoln High School in 1947. She moved to New York to be a nanny and met her husband Wallace Dale Macdonald at church. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple by Harold B. Lee on August 19, 1948.
W. Dale and Phyllis raised their 9 children in Uniondale, Long Island, New York and Mesa, Arizona: Martha (Guy) Beacom of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; Robert (Paula) Macdonald of Springville, Utah; Catherine Spence of Orem; Dale (Brenda) Macdonald of Mesa, AZ, Andrew (Marcia) Macdonald of Thatcher, AZ; Jean (Darwin) Vitters of Orem; Sandra (Brian) Nichols of Provo, currently serving an LDS mission in Charlotte, NC; Lynn (John) Hoffmann of Orem; and Alexander Joseph (Sherri) Macdonald of Mesa, AZ. Phyllis has 45 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 1 on the way.
She has spent her last 74 years doing genealogy work and served a Family History Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995-97. Phyllis was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (currently a member of the Hillcrest Camp) and served as captain of the Grandview Camp. In her spare time, she loved to read, sing, oil paint, write children’s stories, listen to opera, study history, and love unconditionally. Come and share some happy memories.
