Phyllis Joe Rose Pope's Obituary
Phyllis Joe Rose Pope completed her earthly journey and returned to her heavenly home on July 3, 2016 surrounded by loving family members. She lived a full life for 93 years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Phyllis was born in Malad, Idaho, January 4, 1923 to Joseph Walter Rose and Lavina Allen Rose as their seventh daughter. She married Reed H. Pope in the Logan Temple on November 18, 1943.
Phyllis was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership callings. She enjoyed the arts, poetry, cake decorating, golfing, bowling, ceramics, crocheting, painting and sewing. She gave back to the community by serving in the PTA, as school librarian and as a pink lady for many years. Her life revolved around loving and serving her family. Her crowning accomplishment was instilling a love of the Savior, Jesus Christ in the hearts of her four children.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Steven (Shelly) Pope, Carl (Pam) Pope, Jolene (Kent) Ottley, daughter in law, Brenda Pope, 18 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed, son Boyd Pope, granddaughter, Stephanie Pope, her parents, and 6 siblings: Lyle Mills, LaRue Thomas, Virginia Barker, Emogene Harenberg, Afton Davis, and Merle Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 am at the River Ridge Stake Center, 10168 S. 1000 W. South Jordan, UT. Viewing will start at 9:45 am prior to the service. Interment: Larking Sunset Gardens, Sandy.
