To all the Shumway kids from Richard and Millie,
We tried to send this yesterday but for some reason I don't think it went through which is probably because of my ineptitude with the computer. We send our condolences to all of you. Our relationship with Phyllis was one of approximately 63 years beginning just before she and Jerry were married. Her friendship was especially important to me (Millie) when Richard was overseas for 18 months. My day off from work was Friday and I often drove to N. Canton and spent the day with her. While she visited with me she would continue with her housewifely duties which included caring for a toddler (Lee) and a baby (Jay). She introduced me to feeding babies and changing diapers. Later, when we were in Florida, Richard being posted to Eglin Air Force base, she shipped me her maternity clothes when I was pregnant with Cheryl. I returned them to her in time for her next pregnancy which was to be John. After Jerry retired and they settle back in Akron we enjoyed visits and phone calls throughout those years until Jerry passed. After saying good-by at the Morningview house when she moved to Utah to be with her kids, and with her health failing, we somehow lost contact.
We have passed the obituary on to cousin, Gaynell Nary. Gay always asked if we had heard from Phyllis whenever we talked to her.
If any of you should need or want to be in touch with us our e-mail address is: [email protected]. Please note the r before the m. It is hard to see.

To the Family of Phyllis Shumway -
So sorry for your loss. Phyllis was a fine woman. Our husbands worked together for Goodyear Aerospace. We were with your family in Baltimore, MD and Germany. We had a lot of good times together. Jay might remember my husband, Bill McGlone - he passed away in 2000. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Nancy McGlone
Marlene and I will miss our weekly calls. I have so many fond memories of our childhood I'll cherish for ever. May you rest in peace Phyllis. Love you. Shirley
There will never be another sister like your Phyllis - so smart, caring and loving mother to all your children. Many fond memories of our childhood that will be etched in my heart forever. May you rest in peace. Love you Shirley.
Our sympathy to the family. We cherish the memory of Phyllis when she came to our home in West Virginia when our daughter, Tracey, married her son John. She was a great conversationalist with many stories to share. Keep all your memories alive with future generations and her legacy lives on. God bless each of you.

Me and Mom❤️ She was a tough lady to have as a girl. She wanted to dress me like she grew up as which was totally unexpectable for a 70's girl. We had 2 awesome trips together when I was in high school. One to Amersterdam and one to Rothenburg. We never got much girl time but I will always remember those trips. Love you Mom
