Rachael Ann Stewart Getz's Obituary
Rachael Ann Stewart Getz, born September 19, 1969 returned with honor to her Heavenly Father’s arms after passing away suddenly at her home in Herriman, Utah this past Thursday, January 12th.
She possessed the rare ability to always see the best in others and since childhood had a profound empathy and love for animals. Dad coined her his “little sunshine” as her smile matched the brightness of her beautiful soul.
Rachael was truly an angel who loved God, the Restored Gospel and was a devout disciple of Jesus Christ. As such, she served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brussels, Belgium from 1992-1994 speaking Dutch, Flemish and even a little French. Her missionary work and desire to gather Israel continued throughout the entirety of her life as she actively served and supported her family, friends and community.
In recent years while struggling with the burden of unrelenting back pain she never let it affect her infectious and profound zest and passion for life. Her hilarious stories and laughter were pure joy to those that had the privilege of being around her, especially her many nieces and nephews who she was truly concerned for and dearly loved and for whom she even braved riding shotgun while giving driving lessons.
Rachael was highly intelligent and a hard worker since her youth. In particular, she spent over 19 years building a career at Bank of the West. From Branch Manager to Wealth Management Controls and Governance officer/AVP, she ultimately completed her certification for Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and was professionally trained and adept at spotting attempts by the criminally minded to use U.S. financial institutions for money-laundering purposes.
Rachael was a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She married Daren Getz in the Salt Lake City Temple, on Sept 24th of 2010 and had been married for 12 years. She was preceded in death by her Father, Harry Wayne Stewart and is survived by her husband Daren Getz , Her mother, Sondra Lynn Stewart, and siblings; Wayne (Ruth) Stewart, Ruth (David) Soderquist, Lora (Don) Garlitz, David (Teah) Stewart and many nieces and nephews. Her meaningful life was momentous and cannot be condensed to mere words but her legacy and light live on in all of us who knew her. We miss her deeply but look forward in faith to that brighter day when we can meet again.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Butterfield Canyon 12th Ward, 6986 West McCuiston Avenue ~ Herriman, Utah with a viewing to begin at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South ~ Millcreek, Utah.
