Ralph George Park's Obituary
Ralph George Park
Ralph passed away September 22, 2016 at the Sandy Rehabilitation Center in Sandy, Utah. He was born December 28, 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Vernal George and Mary Theo (Dutson) Park. He was the youngest born into a family of nine children. He graduated from Rigby High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked for Sandy City and Wheeler Farm.
He was an artist and loved to take a piece of cottonwood bark and had carved and painted hundreds of small animals and probably included every African species known to science. Although he never owned a Cadillac, he had a complete collection of Cadillac model cars.
He was loved and cared for by a large family, especially nieces and nephews who became his childhood friends and throughout his life. Ralph was an avid reader and history buff.
He spent most of the last 3 years in the Wentworth of Draper, Utah and was especially fond of those who cared for him. He spent many hours on the 2nd floor of his apartment with his binoculars scanning the mountains to the East spotting deer and other wildlife. He loved to watch the hummingbirds fly in to drink from the feeder he had on his patio.
Ralph was quiet and easy to like and made friends wherever he went.
He is survived by a brother Norman (Carol) Park of Ashton, Idaho and a sister Ann Laree (Alton) Rainey of Iona, Idaho and a sister-in-law Edith (Alan) Park of Pocatello, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Afton (Clyde) Scott, Wanda (Gilbert) Wallin, Dona (Hyrum) Turner, Nelda (Guy) Mace, and Brothers Nolan (Ruth) Park, and Alan Park.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to those who loved and cared for Ralph throughout his lifetime.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT.
