Ralph James Stearman's Obituary
RJ was born in Springfield, IL to Maurice J. Stearman and Veda Ellen Sronce. He lived in Springfield, Joliet, IL, Chicago, IL and Omaha, NE. RJ was the older brother to his sister Susan Ellen. He joined the Army in 1954 to 1956 serving during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas. After his honorable discharge he received a Bachelors of Art and Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Continued his schooling and received a Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He interned at Dee Memorial Hospital and became a Family Practice doctor. He worked most of his career in Holladay, UT. He is the father of four children: Cynthia Susan, Amelia Anne, Rebecca Jean, and Christopher James. He has three grandsons: Taylor, Quinn, and Chandler. He is survived by Rebecca, Christopher and three grandsons. He is also survived by his current wife and sweetheart Cynthia C. Houston and his three step children Jim & Jamie, Trisha & James, Shawn & Liz and eight step grand children, who he played with and teased. He loved adventure and won many sailing races on the Great Salt Lake, and was a member of the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club for many years. He also was an avid skier, mountain climber and loved scuba diving and a good basketball game. He was also a big fan of a good football game, especially if Nebraska was playing. He loved to travel and went to England, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, and cruised around South America. He also loved music of almost any kind, but especially classical, and a good political discussion. We as a combined family would like to thank the administration and all of the staff and Bristol Hospice for their love and caring during “Doc’s” stay. He fought a good fight and now he is at peace. Memorial services held at noon, Friday, November 15, 2013 at the WM E Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home, 700 S. Foothill Blvd. SLC, UT. We will then continue to Mountain View Memorial Cemetery 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.
