Rebecca Jean Hall Janroy's Obituary
Rebecca "Becky" Hall Janroy, born on April 4, 1939, in Nilan, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, at Avamere at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden, Utah. She was 85 years old.
Rebecca was the beloved daughter of Albert Sidwell Hall and Flora Olivia Wiland Hall, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her sister Adrienne Sue Hall Uhler Robinson and her brother Albert Sherman Hall. Rebecca is survived by her sister-in-law Geneva Hall.
She leaves behind two devoted children: her son Brian S. Janroy (Rhonda) of Mountain Green, Utah, and her daughter Beth S. Janroy of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Rebecca was a proud grandmother to two grandsons, Jonathan Janroy and Zachary Janroy (Miranda), and her two great-granddaughters, Michelya Janroy and Myrisa Janroy. She is also fondly remembered by her nieces Dawn Hall Knight and Crystal Uhler Tomci; nephews William "Billy" Uhler (Pam), John Uhler (Amy), and David Hall (Sara); as well as the memories of her late nieces Kyra Hall Marshall and Lucinda "Cindy" Uhler. She will also be remembered by many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Becky had a deep love for music and shared her gift by singing in many church choirs throughout her life. Her life’s journey took her across the United States, living in Pennsylvania, Alaska, Texas, New Jersey, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Utah.
Some of Becky’s most memorable accomplishments over the years included being a mighty contributor to the building of a new house in Lake Lynn PA, then becoming a single mother. When Beth became ill, she made it her mission in life to ensure her daughter received the best medical care possible, whether Beth wanted the help or not in the later years. ;-). She was also an early Apple adoptee; she sold Macintosh’s to schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic states in the 80’s and 90’s. Becky introduced Brian to his first wife Rhonda, who happens to still be his wife 38+ years later. Not one to be confined to just the US, she traveled to Europe to visit with Brian and Rhonda where she leaned the value of always keeping her US Passport with her. Later, she also took a weeklong train trip across Canada including passing thru the gorgeous Canadian Rockies. Never one to take the easy route to travel, she and Beth not only lived in St Thomas, US VI but survived the direct hit of the Category 3 Hurricane Marilyn in 1995. Becky, being the “Tuff ‘ol Bird” she was, survived a serious auto accident and was a colon cancer survivor for 25 years. Finally, for many years she helped hundreds of families work through the difficult process of funeral planning in PA and UT.
To honor Becky’s life, Celebrations of Life will be held in early April in Utah and in late April or early May in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to any other dementia-related organization.
Becky will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she touched throughout her storied life.
