Renate Latson's Obituary
In loving memory of Renate Latson
On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 5:30 a.m. Renate Latson (Latsen) slipped away quietly and peacefully in her sleep. She fell asleep the night before with her daughter (Gabriele George) holding her hand and singing her favorite Sam Cooke songs. She was preceded in death by her mother Paula Schuck and her father Karl Speier, her brothers Willie and Karl, and her sisters Helene and Giesela, and her beloved daughter, Doris. She is survived by two older sisters, Gerlinde and Karola.
Renate was born in Pirmasens, Germany on October 08, 1936 and emigrated to the United States in March 1964 at age 28. She was married to Leroy Latsen for over 20 years and then cared for him until he passed away due to cancer. Renate had three children, Alfred, Doris (deceased, May 30, 2006) and Gabriele. Due to WW2, she had little education, but she did go to trade school and learned to be a seamstress. She could sew! Anything. But she worked as a waitress all of her life and sewed only for family and friends. She was also adept at knitting and crocheting. And she could cook!
She loved crossword puzzles and reading. She was a hard working and never shied away from responsibility or hard work. She was kind and loved to help people. She loved children. She was quick to make friends. She loved music, especially Sam Cooke.
